Happy National Bubble Wrap Day – might come in handy for those trying to maneuver ice covered areas 😊
Happy Birthday: Jeremy Canine Jan 28
Happy Anniversary: Dan & Janolyn Jan 29
Prayer: Kelly / Courtney /Marla / everyone dealing with weather issues
Good morning from wintery NC
A quiet week had quite the ending with the winter storm excitement. We got some ice but were fortunate and did not lose power. North of us had more issues…we were in a nice little bubble. Since its still cold we will be dealing with the icy streets for a while.. School is canceled today and I don’t have any plans to get on the roads. Our country roads normally don’t get treated so it will probably still be a little dicey on Tuesday.
Saturday, we made sure we were ready if we lost power and I baked up a lot of stuff from the refrigerator, so now I can freeze some of it for later.
Sunday, we watched football…Couldn’t believe all the snow at the Denver game…the Patriots blended in with the field by the end of the game. The Seahawks- Ram game was exciting.
Prayers for everyone still dealing with this storm.
Have a blessed week,
Love,
Gatha
Hello from Chilly Huston for now. Heading to SanAntonio! Got up way early to make sure we would be able to navigate the icey roads in Kansas. We did not have any trouble getting there.
We had a lot is fine powder snow about 7 inch’s at my place. I shoveled Saturday evening about 21/2 hours. But it kept coming down. My neighbors cleared up the rest on Sunday morning! It was 0 degrees when we left KC today.
I hope everyone without power gets it back on soon.
Steph, Allysa and Jullian came over for Sunday dinner. Jullian is so cute, he is walking most of the time. We sat on the floor and stacked blocks, then he knocked them down and just laughed. We had a great time. Steph spent the night so we could leave to see Cierra and Mariella!
We return on Thursday. Short trip.
Hope you all have a blessed week.
Love, prayers, and big hugs!
Michaela
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Laws and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12
86 degrees yesterday! Rainy today and low of 30 tonight. We golfed on Wednesday in beautiful windy weather. Dennis almost killed an alligator with his drive. Luckily it skipped out of the water and just over it.
Praying for everyone going through the effects of the winter storm. Glad Kala and Steph made it out of KC.
We celebrated Isaiah’s 1st birthday yesterday. He is crawling super fast and wants his brothers to know he doesn’t need help opening his presents. He thinks cake and icing is ok but not sure. Very sweet little boy.
Two interesting football games yesterday. How can the same controversial call come up in both games? Backwards pass? Was it? Sorry that the Broncos lost. Football is over as far as Dennis is concerned.
Emily, Justin and Stevie headed up to Hendersonville after they lost power. Maddie and Luis got a layer of ice. Maddie can’t wait for some snow. She doesn’t want to jinx it by buying a sled!
Stay warm and safe everyone,
Love,
PJ
We are living vicariously through your warm weather😊. Isaiah is a cutie…

We only had 3-4 inches and it was easy shoveling because it was so soft. But then the cold really hit. Our dog, Chester, isn’t fond of her paws getting that cold. She keeps wanting to go out expecting it to be different outside. She makes it about a block and wants to be carried home. Karly in Philly and Abby in Boston ended up with 1 1/2 – 2 feet of snow. A lot of FBI agents in Philadelphia got a snow day. Probably best not to tell any drug dealing friends you have near there,
Yearly update from the Lenexa Schleichers. 2025 was good for the most of the family. Everybody employed (who wants to be employed) and nobody moved. Which is a pretty big deal considering how many trips across the country and moving trucks we have rented in the last 5-10 years.
Unfortunately my trial with spinal stimulator was not approved by my insurance company last year. Many appeals later the pain management office said to wait until we could change insurance plans/companies and try again. It was a rough year for me staying still and taking drugs.
Dan and I did fly to Boston to see Abby’s first Harvard Museum exhibit. She worked with a group to select the works, clean the prints, plan and stage the exhibit. We also went to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play. All of that required numerous stops for me to sit and rest. I also spent a great deal of time resting and napping on Abby’s couch while Dan and Abby were still out and about.
I am starting over this year with another MRI (which did get approved without an appeal). Depending on if my C5 and C6 vertebra have not become too narrow, the doctor will proceed to order the spinal trial again.
Sending best wishes and hope to all struggling with health issues.
Stay warm and safe you all
Janolyn, thanks for the update. So glad you and Dan could visit Abby in Boston. Sounds like a wonderful experience for her. We will be praying you can get the spinal trial!
Love,
Gatha
