Good Morning from NC.

Pretty quiet week here.  Did some more deep cleaning and some small projects.

Saturday, Band competition for Mackenzie , Dean and I took some time to remove downed limbs/small trees from the paths in our woods and watched college football.

Sunday we enjoyed the Chief’s win and what about the Denver come back!

History of the coffee filter: ( I should have had this info for national coffee day 😊)

The year was 1908. In a small kitchen in Dresden, Germany, a housewife named Melitta Bentz was having the same frustrating morning she’d had a thousand times before. The coffee was terrible.  Back then, there was no such thing as a clean cup. You boiled loose grounds in water, and every single cup came out bitter, over-extracted, and full of grit.  So one morning, tired of starting her day with disappointment, she did what brilliant people do: she improvised. She grabbed her son’s school notebook, tore out a piece of blotting paper, took a brass pot from the kitchen, and punched some holes in the bottom with a nail. Then she placed the paper inside, spooned in coffee grounds, and slowly poured hot water over it. The water filtered through.  The grounds stayed behind. And what dripped into the cup below? Pure, smooth, clean coffee. No bitterness. No sludge. Just flavor .In that moment, in a kitchen most people would never see, Melitta Bentz invented the coffee filter.  That same year, she applied for a patent.  On June 20, 1908, it was granted.

By the 1920s, Melitta filters were being sold across Europe. By the 1930s, they were everywhere.  The company remains a family business, now led by Bendz grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Have a blessed week,

Love,

Gatha

Thank goodness for that invention! Uncle Richard- get the German roasted coffee from Aldi. It’s a vacuum sealed brick- it’s amazing!

Good Afternoon from breezy chilly Kansas. The wind chimes sang out all night long. Might be time to bring them in.

It’s been a very busy few weeks for me.
After the last lake trip, I dog sat Trooper from Tuesday to Sunday, I dropped him off at his home, and left for our trip to Branson.
Branson has changed a lot, since 1980, which is the last time we were there. TIm and Lisa has some friends who have a time share there. We had a 4 bedroom house, on a hill side, with lots of stairs. These homes were beautiful, I am amazed how many homes were built up along the sides of the mountains. We had a beautiful view of table rock lake, but were in the heart of Branson. We only had 3 days to spend there, Lisa had to be back at work on Wednesday at noon.  We made the most of our time. It being off season  was nice there there were very few crowds. Sunday we went to the outlet mall, then watched the Chiefs game that night. Monday we went to a show that was called Legends, singers that impersonated Willy Nelson, Elvis, Adel and others. We also went to some cute village shops. Dinner was at a nice Italian restaurant. We spent Tuesday at an amusement park where we dove go karts, bummer cars, and bumper boats, several times. Such a blast! We had lots of laughs, card games and just good friend times. The time passed very quickly.
Wednesday afternoon I had to mow my yard, which had not been mowed in 3 weeks due to over seeding. I had to mulch it several times.
Rest of the week was spent cleaning up dog slobbers and hair inside my house and screened porch. I spent Thursday with Jullian and Stephanie.
Saturday evening Jim and Dyanna Ballou hosted a dinner at their house, it was nice.
Sunday Game day at Tim and Lisa’s with camping friends and Lisa’s Cousin.
Today I have a cold, or allergies, not sure which.
Hopefully I will be home for a while.
Love, Prayers and Big Hugs,
Michaela

It’s Fall in FL. We got down to 56 Saturday night, not sure I believe that. Today is cloudy and 77 degrees. Madeline and Luis had planned to visit for her 30th birthday but came down earlier due to his grandmother’s fall, stroke, and hospital stay. Pray for them as they make plans for future care.

Copper is so happy to see Ollie!

Xander has been here for his Fall break and heads back Tuesday. He and Yasmin had a day at Universal to see Harry Potter. The park was still crowded. I got to spend some time with the Isaiah, Zeke and Thomas. They are always entertaining. Isaiah is doing the low crawl and gets around faster than you’d think. Good thing Yasmin has the boys to help her keep track of him.

Church music and choirs are keeping me busy. Dennis’s training month with AT&T is into his 3rd week and he’s learning a lot. He looks great in his AT&T golf shirts. They’re navy, light blue and some are teal. Very handsome!  He’s was not a happy guy during the Bronco game until the last quarter!  We had a stress free Chiefs game for a change. Didn’t even need to get out my punching ball!

Prayers for healing and mercy. My doctor prescribed Valium for my brain MRI. Not sure when that will happen. Maybe once Dennis gets out of training. The beta blocker has reduced the every day migraines to 3 or 4 a week. I’m looking into Ajovy injections. Thank you for the prayers.
Love,
PJ

Or grinde and my beans are roasted! What did one boob say to the other one?
If we don’t get some support around here people are going to think we’re nuts!

Just wanted to let you know that Courtney is having her thyroid removed tomorrow at KU Med. The surgery is expected to take about four hours, and it will be a long, painful day for her.

It will also be an emotionally heavy day for Adrian as he waits through the surgery and for updates from the doctors. He’ll be by her side every step of the way, and I know your love and support will mean the world to both of them.

Please keep them in your thoughts and send all the positive vibes and prayers their way. I’ll share updates as soon as I know more.

Love you all,
Lindsey

Praying for the family!
[Becky]

Thank you Lindsey. We will certainly be praying.

Deanna

Thank you Lindsey. Lifting up Courtney and the surgery tomorrow
