Good Morning from sunny NC:
Dean and I had tickets to the PGA tournament here last Monday, but it was so rainy – no spectators were allowed. We had a rainy week off and on. Dean took advantage of the wet ground and aerated. He was able to mow on Saturday during some sunshine when it wasn’t too soggy.
Another end of the year event with prom on Saturday for Hailey and Zoe… and the weather cooperated.
History Lesson:
Here in Charlotte (Mecklenburg County) on May 20 –“ Meck Dec Day”- will be celebrated: It will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. A document that residents of Mecklenburg County signed in 1775 declaring independence from British rule – one year before the official act by the 13 American colonies that declared independence from Great Britain…
Have a blessed week,
Love,
Gatha
Are there big celebrations there, Gatha? Interesting history. Thank you for always finding something we would have never known.
We had tee ball Saturday which is always good for a laugh. Yasmin, Zeke and Thomas came over and went swimming. It’s been very hot here with no rain or relief from the heat any time soon. We had the boys again Sunday for swimming and Zeke is now “a swimming boy” in his words. He figured out he didn’t need his swimmies! Thomas tried too and hasn’t quite figured out how to get on his tummy but does a great job with the kick board.
We missed watching Scottie win as we took the boys to McDonald’s and then home. Also missed the Nuggets game. Did get to see Scottie carrying his son and the lid fall off the trophy which seems to be tradition.
I guess we’re getting older. Congratulations to our next wave of “cousins” (great nieces and nephews) graduating. Haley, Lilly and Ethan. God bless your futures Where’d the time go?
Have a blessed week.
Love,
PJ
The gardenias are blooming down here and smell so good. I had to have one. Put it in a pot and have it right next to our outdoor furniture. I dream I’m in Hawaii!

Hello from Kansas, where the wind never stops!
It got warm last week with no rain. Finally got some rain last night.
Busy weekend here. Lisa and I went to lunch Friday afternoon then went to get our fishing licenses.
Saturday I watched the baby across the street. She is 1 1/2 years old a real sweetheart. Her parents were getting mulch and plants at the nursery. It was nice they did not have to have Marley in tow.
I went to Tim and Lisa’s for dinner after that.
Sunday was a nice day. I planted some ornamental grasses and Russian Sage in my planters in front of the power boxes, very carefully. My Ginko trees did not make it, so have to get them replaced.
Last Wednesday Allysa and Jullian and I went to Deanna Rose farmstead. It was 94 degrees! It felt great to be outside.
This week I will have Jullian on Tuesday, need to get groceries and mow so I can leave for the lake Thursday.
4 days of glamping!
Hope you all have a blessed week!
Love, prayers and Big hugs!
Michaela
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”
Psalm 100:1-2
Happy Independence Day! Been busy here, last week felt like two weeks! My tree boys are back today finishing up the job of clearing our dead silver maples out, and one other scraggly tree. We celebrated the girls b-day Friday night and Saturday with early dinner in Abingdon and several rounds of Kings in the corner at Sweet Bay, enjoying their slushies , and boys some of their craft beers on tap. Ashley had the most wins! We worked Sunday after church spreading gravel in the vegetable garden pathways. I think this is the first time it has all been done at same time. I now need to get the truck washed- whenever these tree folks leave! Or leaf. We had high winds Saturday and Sunday, so grateful the trees were gone. Hope everyone has a blessed week! Time does sure fly- congrats to all the Seniors in high school graduating this year! (Had to clarify in high school because most of you qualify as seniors “. Love you YaYa
Manual Labor unloaded one ton of gravel with a shovel one wheelbarrow at a time but I enjoyed every minute 😁Seriously it makes me feel strong

Yes they do have celebrations. A friend of ours is the president of the local Daughters of American Revolution Chapter and I know she is involved in the celebrations.
