Good Morning from hot NC. Yes, another hot week in the books here just like most of the country.
Most of the week spent unpacking, doing laundry, and getting caught up from the trip to Nashville. Hailey is busy getting stuff ready for school. Jess has been busy carving out a spot to work in the middle of Hailey’s packing. Upstairs at their house is a busy place.
Trivia:
The game Candy Land was invented in 1948 by Eleanor Abbott, a retired schoolteacher who was recovering from polio in a San Diego hospital. She created the game to entertain and comfort the children also in the hospital with polio. She made it colorful to be cheerful for them. The game was later picked up by Milton Bradley and released in 1949. More than 40 million copes of the game have been sold since 1949. It is still a popular game with about 1 million sold annually.
Have a blessed week.
Love,
Gatha
Candyland! I remember playing it at friends houses. Then playing it with our kids and grandchildren. What a great story. Thank you Gatha.
We’ve been in the triple digits heat index. Quite a thunderstorm last night. Came in from the north. Strange. Overcast today with blue skies trying to peek through.
I have another skin surgery on my melanoma scar Thursday so I guess I’ll be unable to do water aerobics for a few weeks. Maybe if I stay in the shallow water….
Dennis has scheduled his other knee replacement for August 1st. The stair therapy at Emily’s seemed to strengthen his last replacement enough!
Everyone stay cool! Love you all and always am overjoyed when we have time together.
Love,
PJ
On CBS Sunday Mornings, I learned that the objective of Candy Land was to make it “home” because that was the goal for the children with polio! Very sweet. No pun intended.

Candyland was a must for teaching colors and how to count! What a great game! Hats off to Eleanor Abbott!
We have had some milder temps in Kansas. It was a perfect night to have a backyard barbecue for the Ballou’s and my family Saturday.
My week was busy planing for the dinner Saturday, watching Jullian and doing yard work.
I got a call from Mike, informing me that Diane fell Friday and broke the tip of her elbow off. She is in Shawnee Mission hospital, or what ever they are calling it now. She is a shell of the person I once knew. She is on a rapid decline. Praying for the boys, who still do not see eye to eye. Very sad situation.
We are so Blessed as a family!
Hope you all have a Blessed week! Love, Hugs and prayers!

I’m riding in the same boat as PJ feels like temps above 105. I got poured on from the same storm and Deland can expect more of the same, a baby low is coming your way heading to the gulf of America.

So sorry to hear about Diane’s fall and injury.
Our Candyland game still gets a lot of use!
