May 26 – World Redhair Day

Redheads:

  • Less than 2% of the population have red hair
  • Redhair-blue eye is the rarest combination
  • Scotland has the world’s largest percentage of redheads – 13%
  • Ireland is second with 10%
  • Redheads require more anesthesia than people with other hair colors.
  • Redheads are more likely to be left-handed
  • Redheads don’t go gray
  • Any ethnicity can have red hair, more like to occur in people of Western and European descent.
  • Both parents must carry the MC1R gene
  • Redheads have thicker hair, but less individual strands of hair.

Good morning from NC.  Looks like rain is in the forecast for the next few days, so Dean is out early trying to get all the mowing done before the rain rolls in later this morning.

Fairly quiet week here.  Mackenzie had her end of year band concert.  Since she is in the percussion ensemble, she is in the back of the 90 band members most of the time.  At 5 feet we could barely see the top of her head.  Sometimes we would see her hands moving if she was playing the big drum or the snare drum.  She did get up front when she played the xylophone and the vibraphone.

Hailey had some senior stuff.  One of the things they do is the seniors wear their caps and gowns and walk the halls of their elementary schools.  The elementary students line the hallways and wave and give them hi fives.  It is a sweet event.

Brian, Jess, Mackenzie, and Zoe went to the mountains for the weekend.  Hailey stayed home to work.  Dean and I watched a lot of college girls’ softball, and I finished 2 puzzles.

Have a blessed week,

Love,

Gatha

Wow Gatha, lots of great information about Red Heads.

Hello from rainy Basehor Kansas!
I had a great weekend with Tim and Lisa at Pamona lake. We left early Thursday. Got set up put the boat in and went fishing. It was a beautiful day with temps in the upper 70’s.
I caught a fish to keep and one big one that got away. Broke my line! We were fishing for crappie.
Friday we were able to get out and fish again. That day I caught the largest fish of the day. After the weekend we had about a zip lock bag about 3/4 full of cleaned fish. Maybe have a fish fry the next time they go out. Tim and the  guys went out again on Saturday. I relaxed and did some drawing. We were blessed with such A nice day. I am lucky to get some texts, Cell tower usage is very spotty at the lake.
We ate such great meals! And laughed a lot with other campers around the camp fire. New and old friends. Had corn hole tournaments, and of course plenty of beer. Saturday night it started raining. In between storms we made s’mores!
Sunday we woke  up to a flood. Tried to wait it out, the radar looked bad for all day and Monday so we packed up and got home about 4:00 Sunday.
Monday was a lazy day for me. It rained all day. We needed the rain here. All the rain we got in  central Kansas, it hardly rained here until Monday.
Today I have baby Jullian. It’s chilly out, so we will not be taking our 2 mile walk today.

Hope you all have a Blessed week!
Love, prayers and Bug Hugs

Rainy days is the word for May. We have had 8.6 inches of rain this May, the most recorded since the famous May floods of 2010!
Ready for some summer sun and warmer temps.
