Ingredients
  

  • 2 smoked ham hocks
  • 1 pkg Lipton onion soup mix
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 carrot (finely grated)
  • ½ pkg navy beans
  • 1 white onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  1. Check ½ pkg navy beans for broken or brown beans and throw out. Rinse remaining beans.
  2. Prepare 1 pkg Lipton onion soup mix according to directions, add in 2 smoked ham hocks and the rinsed navy beans.
  3. Add 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, 1 tsp salt and pepper, 1 white onion (chopped), and 1 carrot (finely grated).
  4. Bring to a boil, turn down and simmer until beans are tender.
  5. Serve with cornbread.
