Buttermilk Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
Cake Mix
- 2 c flour
- 2 c sugar
- 1 stick margarine
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- ½ c Crisco
- 1 c water
- ½ c buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp salt
Icing
- 1 stick margarine
- 5-6 tbsp milk
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- 1 lb powdered sugar
Instructions
Cake Mix
- In a large bowl mix together 2 c flour and 2 c sugar. Set aside.
- In a small pan, bring to a boil 1 stick margarine, 4 tbsp cocoa, ½ c Crisco, and 1 c water. Stir into flour/sugar mixture.
- Stir 1 tsp baking soda into ½ c buttermilk and add to mixture.
- Then add 2 eggs, ½ tsp vanilla, and ½ tsp salt. Combine.
- Pour into greased and floured (or sprayed) pan (cookie sheet size pan) and bake at 400 °F for 18 to 20 minutes.
Icing
- Bring 1 stick margarine, 5-6 tbsp milk, and 4 tbsp cocoa to a boil. Beat in 1 lb powdered sugar (may use less).
- Put hot icing on cake.
