Mabel's Banana Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 bananas (sliced)
- 2 c milk
- ¼-1 c sugar
- 3 eggs (separated)
- vanilla flavoring
- vanilla wafers
- 1 tsp flour
- cream of tartar (optional)
Instructions
- Pour 1 tsp flour and sugar in a saucepan. Mix thoroughly.
- Gradually add 2 c milk.
- Beat 3 eggs (yolks only) and gradually mix into saucepan with vanilla flavoring.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently (you might want to use a double boiler) until it thickens. Set aside to cool.
- Add vanilla wafers and 3 bananas on top.
- Beat 3 eggs (whites only) to stiffen.
- Add ¼ c sugar (you may want to add cream of tartar). Spread on pudding.
- Put in oven just to brown the top of the meringue.
