Mabel's Banana Pudding

Ingredients
  

  • 3 bananas (sliced)
  • 2 c milk
  • ¼-1 c sugar
  • 3 eggs (separated)
  • vanilla flavoring
  • vanilla wafers
  • 1 tsp flour
  • cream of tartar (optional)

Instructions
 

  1. Pour 1 tsp flour and sugar in a saucepan. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Gradually add 2 c milk.
  3. Beat 3 eggs (yolks only) and gradually mix into saucepan with vanilla flavoring.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently (you might want to use a double boiler) until it thickens. Set aside to cool.
  5. Add vanilla wafers and 3 bananas on top.
  6. Beat 3 eggs (whites only) to stiffen.
  7. Add ¼ c sugar (you may want to add cream of tartar). Spread on pudding.
  8. Put in oven just to brown the top of the meringue.
