Set aside in a lightly sprayed 2 quart baking dish.
Melt ¼ c butter in a saucepan, blend in ¼ c flour and salt and pepper, stir until smooth.
Add 1¼ c milk slowly, until sauce bubbles.
Mix 2 c cheddar cheese into cooled macaroni. Pour sauce over top of macaroni and dot with butter.
Bake for 35 minutes.

Thomas Jefferson introduced this now American dish at a White House dinner in 1982. It was then called pie. (this is the first recipe that Ashley made without any help.)
